Our Story
The Western States Simulation Alliance (WSSA), formerly the California Simulation Alliance (CSA), brings together individuals, organizations, and associations across California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Hawai‘i. This expanded regional focus strengthens collaboration, broadens access to resources, and enhances opportunities to contribute to simulation excellence throughout the western states. Founded by HealthImpact in 2008, the original CSA was created to connect and support interdisciplinary healthcare educators in California and beyond. Since then, the use of simulation in healthcare has grown significantly. Educators and clinicians increasingly rely on a variety of simulation modalities—both in pre‑licensure programs to enrich clinical learning and in healthcare settings to advance patient care, safety, and team performance.

Client Story
Working with the Western States Simulation Alliance (WSSA), a program of HealthImpact, has been an exceptional experience that continues to elevate healthcare education across the Inland Empire. Through a blend of in-person and Zoom-based simulation training, our regional faculty have received high-quality, engaging instruction that consistently earns excellent reviews.
This partnership has played a pivotal role in increasing the number of Inland Empire faculty achieving their Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credentials. Most notably, it has empowered a wide range of educators—including nursing faculty, paramedic instructors, psychiatric technician educators, pharmacy technician trainers, respiratory care faculty, physical therapy assistant instructors, remediation specialists, and simulation lab coordinators.
Thanks to the leadership and expertise of the WSSA and HealthImpact, our faculty are now better equipped to design and facilitate meaningful simulation experiences that prepare students for safe, effective clinical practice. Their continued support has made a lasting and measurable impact on the quality of healthcare education in our region.
